The noble palace „Quasi non Possidentes“ (... as if were not the owners) was probably built in the 1730ies. This two-storied town palace, which is built in the style of the Dutch Late Renaissance, once constituted the western end of the dock row. First it was seat of the supreme regional authority, the “Regierungskanzlei” (governing office), thereafter it was owned by prominent traders and business employers of the town. Throughout the past centuries the interior as well as the façade of the palace have been altered several times. Today the building houses a gallery, which presents changing exhibitions of contemporary art.
