The seal station was founded by the community of Friedrichskoog and the ‘Landesjagdverband Schleswig-Holstein e.V.’ in 1985. Since 1992 it is run as an acknowledged non-profit-making organization. The station has three areas of responsibility: information, rearing, and research. It offers manifold possibilities to learn about native marine mammals, their biology, their endangerment and on protection measures in the biosphere of the mud flat. During the feedings lectures on the biology of seals and the tasks of the seal station are held. For groups we offer guided tours, slide show lectures or project days, all adapted to the age of the visitors. Please make an appointment. Lectures and events dealing with everything that has to do with seals are presented regularly.
