The Poppenspäler Museum (Puppet Theatre Museum) was founded on the initiative of the "Pole Poppenspäler Förderkreis e.V." (supporting association) in 1993. It was opened at the 10th anniversary of the International Puppet Theatre Festival (Pole Poppenspäler Days) in Husum. It views itself as a vivid museum which offers room for creativity, play and communication. So right from the start the programm has included fairy tale hours, craft projects and special exhibitions on the history of puppet theatre.
The permanent exhibition on the history of puppet theatre includes puppets owned by the supporting association as well as puppets that are on loan - mainly from the Kaspari collection. The museum is financed by donations and admission fees. |
