The Molfsee Open-Air Museum is the central place of remembrance and experience for the everyday and cultural history of Schleswig-Holstein - from the 16th to the 20th century.
Country life in the past Almost everyone from Schleswig-Holstein has been here at least once. There is hardly a schoolchild who cannot look back on a trip to Molfsee. There is hardly a family that has not spent a day on the 40-hectare museum grounds, visited the farmhouses, cottages, barns and workshops of village craftsmen and immersed themselves in the country life of the past. A building for the future 2021 marks a historic turning point in the history of the museum. A large new exhibition and entrance building is opened: the Jahr100Haus. The architecture alone is fascinating. Its design is inspired by farmhouses - and yet completely different. A building for the future that has characterised the image of the museum ever since and provides a home for the world of modern folklore. A journey of discovery into the recent past The exhibition ‘A YEAR100 in Schleswig-Holstein. Land. People. Life’ follows on from the outdoor exhibition, but differs significantly from it in terms of content. It presents 350 everyday objects from the 20th century - from the school cone to the torch to the 1972 Olympic flame - illuminating their stories and inviting visitors on a journey of discovery. |
