The railway track from Süderbrarup through Scheggerott to Kappeln, which is 13 kilometres long, was built in 1904. After almost 70 years the passenger services were stopped, later the freight traffic as well. Since 1979 the northernmost museum train of Germany is in operation here. On about 10-15 days mainly during the summer season historical trains with steam locomotives run through the idyllic landscape of Angeln. Longer trips, for instance to Flensburg or Denmark, are also on the schedule. There are also offers for people who are not so enthusiastic about trains, for instance the "Kunstschienen" (art tracks) organized by the "Kappelner Kunst- und Kulturverein" (Kappeln art and culture association).
