Description
The “Kunsthalle St. Annen” (St. Annen art museum) with a bistro and a museum shop was recently erected on the site of the former St. Annen convent church, which was built between 1502 and 1515. This building is a gift of the Possehl Stiftung (Possehl Foundation) in Lübeck to the old Hansa town of Lübeck. This new “Kunsthalle”, which is situated in the middle of the medieval Aegiedien quarter, is a unique place to encounter contemporary art and art of the 20th century.
Here the collections of the “Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte“ (museum on art and cultural history) are presented. In addition, the Kunsthalle, which has excellent modern equipment, offers the possibility to show changing exhibitions of different kinds.
